One Little Word Blog Hop: August

Good morning/afternoon/evening and welcome to the One Little Word Blog Hop.  The hop is hosted by Margie, is international and has a wonderful 18 participants, all waiting and willing to share their One Little Word for 2012 with you.  If you've landed here from Monica, welcome.  I'm listed near the top of the hop, but don't worry if you get lost following the links ~ there's a full list of participants at the end of this post.   
My husband {The Brainy One} chose our word for 2012: enjoy.  Not because he wants us to be frivolous with our lives, but because he wants us to grasp every opportunity, good or bad, that comes our way this year. 
June was, in Ali's words, all about the sound you associate with your word.

I chose nine songs that I really enjoy hearing and singing along to.  Some are very old songs, some are fairly recent and few, if any, are currently on any radio station's playlist.
1) Slipping Through My Fingers by ABBA ~ perfectly captures parenthood;
2) Human by The Killers ~ popular when The Boy Child was born and has a great base;
3) Sunshine on Leith by The Proclaimers ~ possibly one of the most perfect pop songs ever written, in my opinion and you can hear it here;
4) Girls in Their Summer clothes by Bruce Springsteen ~ probably one of my favourite songs by The Boss;
5) Wind of Change by The Scorpians ~ reminds me of the time I was living in what was then West Germany and the Berlin Wall coming down.  Halcyon days;  
6) Northern Lights by Renaissance ~ a classic from my childhood;
7) Sit Down by James ~ An 80s dance floor classic and memories of Saturday night dancing and of first love;
8) Someone Like You by Adele ~ simply superb and one that everyone who has had their heart broken can identify with.  She was amazing to see live;
9) Me and Tennessee by Tim McGraw ~ great country song.
